EuroMillions in 2017
Happy New Year everyone! As 2016 comes to a close we take a look back at the year that was and also forward to see what's in store for EuroMillions in 2017.
Euromillions 2016 Recap
It's been a mad year, full of epic highs, tragic lows and a whole load of utterly bewildering in-betweens. Looking back, I think it's fair to say we're all looking forward to a nice quiet 2017.
Of course it was a fairly quiet year as far as EuroMillions news is concerned. March came, and went, and the summer passed too, without any sign of a EuroMillions Superdraw.
But by then we realised why.
A special September Superdraw was announced, worth €130 million, an increase of €30 million more than the customary €100 million.
At the same time, big changes came into effect raising the odds of winning dramatically, as well as raising the price per ticket by 50c.
The Superdraw jackpot rolled over several times before one lucky Belgian won €168 million.
Two weeks later another Belgian won big, this time scooping €50.1 million.
Finally, spare a thought for the poor Frenchwoman who foolishly thought she won huge and went on an epic shopping spree without checking her numbers properly.
When confronted about it she finally done exactly what any tabloid-ready protagonist would do - lied. She got off with a light slap on the wrist but, we can only assume, she's still paying back all the money she owes as part of her court-mandated repayment scheme.
Nobody can really predict what the new year will bring, we can only make vague assumptions. Equal parts triumph and tragedy - the same as any year.
What we can, for sure, guarantee, however, is more rollovers creating bigger EuroMillions jackpots, and plenty of more EuroMillions winners month after month.
