Lucky lottery ticket finds - UK woman wins EuroMillions fortune

We all have a bit of rubbish at the bottom of our bags: unwrapped pieces of chewing gum, make-up and greasy coins. But sometimes you do find something of value in there.

Carol Jones managed better than most of us while rummaging through her handbag. She came up with an old EuroMillions ticket worth £1 million - five weeks after the draw. When it comes to collecting lottery tickets, late is always better than never.

The 66-year-old shop assistant from Conwy was about to throw her old ticket away, but decided to check it before it was too late. After handing the ticket in rather than binning it, she earned herself a big win on EuroMillions.

?I thought I would be throwing it in the bin. I actually checked the ticket on my way into work and I don't think the news really sank n at first, in fact I still don't think it has,? Jones said.

She seemed to have wasted no time after her win. Jones has already quit her job at the shoe shop where she had been working at for more than 20 year. She now plans to go on holiday with her husband.

Carol Jones is far from the only winner who have been lucky in finding their winning ticket.

In 2012, a New York landscaper was cleaning up the rubbish caused by the hurricane Sandy when he found an old ticket in a pile of leaves.

Marvin Rosales Martinez was well rewarded for his work as the found ticket turned out to be worth 1 million dollars. But the landscaper had to wait before collecting his win. A year-long investigation followed the find, where lottery officials tried to find the ticket's rightful owner. Martinez eventually got his pay out in the beginning of 2014.

So if you find EuroMillions ticket under the couch or lying on the pavement this week, make sure that you pick it up and have a look, you might be a winner!
