Five Reasons To Live On An Island

Tropical Isalnd

There are so many people I know who would trade their current home for a beach house in a blink of an eye. The same applies to their current lifestyle as well. Who could blame them? I would totally change my current life for an endless vacation on an island…

Maybe you've thought about it too. So I thought you might find it amusing to go through my personal 5 reasons to say goodbye to the snowy winters in your life and embrace a sunnier and more exotic existence.

You Hate Cold Weather

Turn on the news and it's all you'll hear right now, bad weather, flood warnings, the grim possibility of flight disruptions over Christmas, not to mention all those colds, aches and sniffles that accompany this, most miserable season. Then there's the never-ending civil war in the office between those who think the heat's either too high or not high enough. Either way I'm sure you'd much rather be on a sandy beach being browned by the sun, or cooling off in coral green waters.

You Love Water

There are some people who are just in love with sea and ocean water (yes, I am one of them). I am sure you see us any time you’re on a vacation at sea. We are all about snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, body boarding, surfing, etc. Still, you don't need to be an adrenaline junkie to enjoy the sea, even a leisurely stroll along the water's edge can do wonders for your soul. Whatever the case, if you enjoy the water then living on an island is a dream come true. Does just the thought of being able to go to the beach before lunch (on a daily basis) make you shiver with excitement? Well, island life is just for you, my friend.

You Hate Changing Your Wardrobe

While it may be fun to change your summer and winter wardrobe on an annual basis, it is so liberating to live in just your summer clothes. Just think about it: no more hats, gloves, hoodies, socks, and boots… No more hours of layering clothes on, praying that this time the weather girl won’t mislead you! No more – "should I bring an umbrella just to be on the safe side?" I'm happy to live in shorts and t-shirts for the rest of my life. What about you?

You Love The Sun

Singing in the rain? Not me, not anybody I know either. Everybody likes it when it’s sunny outside – it is just the way weather should be, like, all the time. Personally, I think that a sunless day is some kind of a bug in the system that just needs to be removed. And when these bugs become the norm instead of the exception to the rule, you just can’t help but start plotting about how to move to an island for good. And for sun.

You Hate Watches

You hate watches and this is totally understandable. I sometimes think about their main purpose – are they invented to help us get through the day in a more organized way or just to make us feel even less productive than we already are? I love the way my watch looks on my wrist, but I have a confession to make – I never really look at it… It just makes me feel sad and miserable as any time I look at it, I remember the stuff I haven’t had time to do. If you’re anything like me, you’ll just fall in love with living on island time. Just look at the sun in the cloudless sky and figure out whether it is time for dinner or you can go on sunbathing for a few more hours.
